How To Upload Files Using Cpanel

If you have hosted your website with Hostgator or another web hosting company that uses cpanel as administrative part for your website, you can upload files (e.g. a custom logo) to your web server using the file manager.

Login to your cpanel at http://www.yourwebsite.com/cpanel and click on the file manager inside the ‘Files’ menu:

cPanel File UploadingSelect Web Root (public_html/www):

Cpanel File Manager

Next you will see a list with all your files. You can now click on the upload icon in the top task bar and select a file from your computer to upload to your web server (e.g. a file named logo.jpg). The url to your logo will be:

http://www.yourwebsitename.com/logo.jpg

If you are planning on uploading more than one file you should create a new folder (click on the ‘new folder’ icon in the top taskbar) first, and upload your files in this folder, or your web server will get really cluttered with files. If you e.g. create a new folder named ‘myimages’, and upload a file named logo.jpg into it, the url to your logo will be:

http://www.yourwebsitename.com/myimages/logo.jpg
